Attaching calendar events to your message

You can attach calendar events created in Calendar (iCal) or Microsoft Outlook to your message in Direct Mail. This makes it easy for your recipients to add an event to their calendar without them having to re-enter the details on their own. Here's how to attach a calendar event:

  1. In Direct Mail, choose Message > Edit Attachments from the menu bar at the top of the screen (or click the Attachments button in the toolbar)
  2. Drag the calendar event from the Calendar app (or Microsoft Outlook) and drop it in the attachments window.

After you drop the event, a ".ics" file will be automatically created and attached to your message. You can inspect the .ics file by selecting and clicking the Quick Look icon (or pressing the space bar).

Note this feature requires Direct Mail 4.2 or newer and is not available in the Mac App Store version.
