Oftentimes our team sees newsletters with logos that don&#8217;t mesh well with the background color of the newsletter, like this:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-307\" title=\"Company Logo with No Transparency\" src=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/art-logo-no-alpha.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"141\" srcset=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/art-logo-no-alpha.jpg 500w, https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/art-logo-no-alpha-300x84.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>See that big white box surrounding the &#8220;art&#8221; logo? I think you&#8217;ll agree that it would look better if we got rid of the white background and had the logo blend in with the background. Here&#8217;s an easy technique you can use to make your logo blend in with the background:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step One:<\/strong> Open your original logo artwork file in the Preview application<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-308\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/open-logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"562\" height=\"393\" srcset=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/open-logo.jpg 562w, https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/open-logo-300x209.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 562px) 100vw, 562px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step Two:<\/strong> Choose Edit &gt; Show Edit Toolbar from the menu bar, then choose &#8220;Instant Alpha&#8221; from the Selection Tools menu<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-309\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/instant-alpha.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"562\" height=\"392\" srcset=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/instant-alpha.jpg 562w, https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/instant-alpha-300x209.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 562px) 100vw, 562px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step Four:<\/strong> Click and drag the colors you want to make transparent (in this case, the white background).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-310\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/masked.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"546\" height=\"376\" srcset=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/masked.jpg 546w, https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/masked-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 546px) 100vw, 546px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step Five:<\/strong> Press the delete key to remove the selected color<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-311\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/no-background.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"562\" height=\"392\" srcset=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/no-background.jpg 562w, https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/no-background-300x209.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 562px) 100vw, 562px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step Six:<\/strong> Choose File &gt; Export from the menu bar. Choose &#8220;PNG&#8221; as the file format and make sure the &#8220;Alpha&#8221; option is checked.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-312\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/save.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"476\" srcset=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/save.jpg 500w, https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/save-300x285.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now when you choose your newly exported PNG for the logo, you&#8217;ll see the background color of the newsletter come through:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-313\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/finished.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"121\" srcset=\"https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/finished.jpg 500w, https:\/\/directmailmac.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/finished-300x72.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Use this same technique on your own logo to make a great first impression on your readers!
