By default, Direct Mail lets you edit the following fields for each recipient:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Email Address
You can edit additional information for each recipient, including:
- Company Name
- up to 15 custom fields
Here's how to edit more than just the default information for each address:
- Choose Addresses > Show Columns > from the menu bar.
- Choose the additional columns you'd like displayed.
- Once the columns are displayed, double-click the field to edit.
A Note for Users Upgrading from Direct Mail 2
In Direct Mail version 2 and older, the names you assigned the custom columns were the same names you used as mail-merge tags in the message body. For example, if custom column #1 was named "Favorite Song", then you would have used the
[favorite song] mail-merge tag in the body of your message. In Direct Mail 4, this is no longer the case. Mail-merge tags no longer use the name of the custom column, but simply
[custom 2], etc. This means that even if you change the name of the custom column, you will not need to edit your message and change the mail-merge tag.
Direct Mail 3 automatically performs this conversion for you when upgrading any old Direct Mail 2 documents.
