If the software update process fails

This help article is for an old version of Direct Mail.

On rare occasions, Direct Mail's software update process may not be able to successfully install the update. If this happens, you will see an error message instructing you to download a fresh copy from our website. Don't worry, all of your data is safe (like messages, mailing lists, campaign reports, etc.). Here is what you should do:

  1. If Direct Mail is still open, quit Direct Mail
  2. Switch to the Finder and locate the Direct Mail app. It is most likely in your Applications or Downloads folder. It will be named "Direct Mail" or "Direct Mail (Please Move to Trash)" or similar.
  3. Drag the app to the Trash
  4. Download a fresh copy of the Direct Mail app from this website. You can click the "Download Now" button at the top-right corner of this page to begin the download.

Once the download has finished, you should be able to find it inside your Downloads folder. Direct Mail can now be opened and all of your data should be available.
